Dr. Chen Cham Shum, Jason

BVSc (Hons)

Dr. Jason Chen was born and raised in Hong Kong. He completed his Zoology degree in Otago University, New Zealand, and his Veterinary degree in University of Sydney, Australia.

He found his interest in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia during his final year of vet school.  After a year in general practice, he then began to work as a veterinary anaesthetist at

University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney for two years. Although it was very rewarding to be teaching veterinary students, he realised that he also needed to learn more so he then completed an anaesthesia internship at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital in Sydney. He then worked in a specialist hospital in Hong Kong for another 2 years before he joined HVOC. His special interests are locoregional anaesthesia in small animals.

Jason is also a certified sake sommelier when he is not doing veterinary related work and he enjoys video games, music, basketball as well as travelling in his spare time. Dr Jason and his partner have 2 rescued cats named Tifa and Yuna.
